I would like to introduce you to a new twist on the old craft of paper chain making.

Years ago paper chains were made using the outer wrapper from sticks of gum purchased in packs. Over the years the gum companies have done away with their colorful logo wrappers and replaced them with foil or just a bland white wrap.
Wanting to bring the craft back, I cut colorful and coordinating papers half the size of the originals. Half the size because the first step in making the chains was to tear the papers in half. With instructions for folding and linking you can begin your own chain. Who knows how long yours will grow!

The Guinness World Record holder for the longest gum wrapper chain is Gary Duschl from Virginia Beach, VA. Check out his web site at www.gumwrapper.com. You will be amazed! You have to realize that five gum sticks came in a pack back then. That gave you ten papers to fold and link together. Didn't make for a very fast growing chain. Imagine how many packs of gum you had to buy (and chew) to make a chain as long as you! Saving the papers took a long time but that didn't deter people from "sticking" to the craft. Some still have theirs today. Check LINKS on Gary's web page.
